Putting tissue paper in a gift bag sounds simple enough, right? Yet, so many people are doing it wrong, resulting in a gift bag presentation that looks messy, as though it were an afterthought. The gift bag you present to the recipient is their first impression of the gift you spent so much effort picking out for them, which is why it’s worth going the extra mile to place tissue paper into a gift bag the right way. Fortunately, the process is incredibly easy if you just follow the steps below.
Step #1: Choosing the Right Tissue Paper
First, make sure that you’ve put some time and effort into choosing the right tissue paper. You want it to complement the gift bag, whether in terms of color, finish or pattern. Consider how each tissue paper option will look with the gift bag before purchasing it. Keep in mind that you can pick more than one, to layer different colors or patterns in the bag.
Step #2: Shape Your Paper
Grab two sheets of paper and lay them flat on a surface in front of you, one on top of the other. Now, use your fingers to pinch the surface of your small pile, before flipping it over as though you were holding a flower bouquet. Transfer this “bouquet” carefully into your gift bag, pinched end down. Fluff out the top that’s sticking out of the bag by carefully separating the two sheets and using your hands to give a more voluminous appearance.
Step #3: Insert Your Gift
Now, carefully place your gift into the bag, so that its weight rests on the bottom of the tissue paper. Further fluff the tissue paper around the top to gently conceal what’s inside. Keep in mind that you can also wrap the actual gift in the same tissue paper if you’d like. To do this, you can just wrap the gift as though you were using wrapping paper, using two layers if necessary (if each individual sheet is too see-through and you want it more concealed). Keep in mind that tissue paper is a lot more delicate than wrapping paper, so you will need to go slowly while you wrap the gift.
Step #4: Present Your Gift!
Now, you have a beautiful gift bag presentation to give to your loved one. Make sure that while you’re transporting the gift, you keep the bag in an area where all of that hard work won’t go to waste, by preventing it from getting crushed or otherwise interfered with.
It’s Worth it to Put Tissue Paper into a Gift Bag the Right Way
Putting a little extra effort into applying your tissue paper to a gift bag can make a huge difference when it comes to the visual impact of the gift itself, and you’ll feel quite pleased when you look at a beautifully presented gift before your eyes, knowing that the recipient will appreciate all of the work you’ve put into it.
