One of the most classic gifts you can buy someone is a book – it’s also one of the most meaningful, as there’s something special about choosing the perfect book for a loved one based on their personal interests and tastes. Of course, once you buy that perfect book, there’s one more step, which is wrapping it. Thankfully, wrapping a book isn’t actually that difficult, as long as you have a little patience and willingness to make it look flawless.
We’re going to go over all of the steps of gift-wrapping a book, which applies to all book sizes. Just make sure that you have the perfect wrapping paper and embellishments ready to go, along with some tape and scissors.
Create Your Wrapping Station First, you want to set up your wrapping station. Find a large, flat, smooth, and hard surface for rolling out your paper, and keep your book and your scissors and tape within reach.
Roll Out Your Paper Now, roll out your paper toward you, decorative side down, and use an object to weigh the paper down where the roll ends, so that it doesn’t roll back. Place the book in the corner of the wrapping paper toward you, leaving about 1/3 of the book’s length and width as distance between the book and the edge of the paper.
Cut Cut your paper, adding 1/3 of the book’s length and width to the outside edge toward the roll. Make sure to cut a straight line, taking your time to ensure that it’s just right.
Fold and Tape Starting lengthwise, take one edge of the paper and hold it taut while pulling it over the book. Make sure the book is facing down. Once one edge of the paper is tightly wrapped around the book, bring the other side of the paper around to meet it, leaving enough overlap so that you can’t see the book. If too much is overlapping, trim. Then, tape in place.
Now, do the remaining ends. Smooth out one end by holding it down and taut. Then, fold the two corners inward, fold over the book, and tape. Do the same to the other side. Again, if there’s too much wrapping paper on the ends, trim, or else the ends will look saggy and untidy.
Decorate! Now, your book is wrapped, and it’s time to get creative. Use some ribbon, bows, twine, or anything else that you think will make your book really pop and look absolutely stunning. Don’t be afraid to look for some inspo online that will take your gift to the next level.
