Some types of gifts are easy to wrap in wrapping paper – think square boxes, cylindrical bottles, and the like. But, then there are gifts that don’t seem like they were meant to be wrapped, with a mug being a great example. With its open mouth and handle that juts outward, how can you wrap it neatly to make a nice presentation for your loved one?
Well, there is a way, and we’re going to cover it in depth today. Wrapping a mug isn’t just doable – you can make a gift-wrapped mug look just as beautiful as every other gift that you wrapand embellish throughout the year.
Gift-wrapping a mug isn’t nearly as difficult as it sounds, and you can make it look quite nice. That’s handy since mugs make such great gifts. Let’s go over all of the steps so that you can wrap a mug like a pro in no time.
First, you’ll want to measure the height of the mug. Then, you’ll want to cut a square of wrapping paper that’s both tall and wide enough to cover that height plus several inches. Place your mug in the center.
Now, take all 4 corners of the wrapping paper and pull them up toward the top of the mug. Then, bunch the corners together at the top, bringing them all toward the middle.
From there, you have two options. Either you can allow the top to stay bunched and sticking out, making a point to fluff it out a bit. Then, you can secure it with ribbon. Alternatively, you can stuff the bunch of paper into the mug, and secure it with tape. Either option works, and you may find that the thickness of your wrapping paper really determines what looks best. For instance, if the paper is super thick, the bunched-up look poking out of the top may look too messy. If the paper is very thin, then stuffing the bunch inside may look lackluster, and benefit from the pop of the more flamboyant alternative.
Now that your mug is wrapped, it’s time to decorate. You can use ribbons, bows, or whatever other accessories will make your gift really pop. You can also decide if you want to place the mug in a gift bag, because one thing about a wrapped mug is that it’s pretty easy to tell what’s beneath the paper. If you’re going to go with a gift bag, feel free to embellish it with tissue paper to make even more of a statement.
No Doubt, Gift-Wrapping a Mug is Actually Pretty Simple… Once You Get the Hang of it
In all actuality, wrapping a mug isn’t too hard or time-consuming. The key is smoothing out the paper during the process so it looks nice and tidy, and deciding whether you want to stuff the remaining paper inside the mug or leave it fanning out. And, of course, remember to be careful during the process, to avoid breaking the mug, as it can become slippery once it’s inside of wrapping paper.
