How to Make a Bag Out of Wrapping Paper
Wrapping paper, as it turns out, is a lot more versatile than we give it credit for. With a little creativity and imagination, it can be used far beyond our expectations, when it comes to using it to present beautiful-looking gifts to our loved ones. While there’s nothing wrong with the “traditional way” as far as wrapping gifts is concerned, making a gift bag out of wrapping paper can be a lot of fun, and make for a visually appealing and highly unique way of presenting a gift.
To make a gift bag out of wrapping paper, simply follow the steps below.
Step #1: Cut Your Wrapping Paper
To start, cut the right amount of wrapping paper to turn into a gift bag. You will need to figure out how much paper you’ll need by measuring your gift’s width and height. You want the bag to be slightly wider than the gift itself. Cut your paper accordingly.
Step #2: Make Your First Fold
Now, lay the paper on a flat surface, with the longest side positioned vertically. Fold the paper in half lengthwise, so that the two ends meet in the center. Secure this fold with a piece of transparent tape, all the way along the fold.
Step #3: Fold the Bottom
Slip your finger under the bottom section so that you can see the inside of the wrapping paper. On the top side of the exposed paper, fold the left and right edges inward (like when you fold and tape the sides using the traditional gift-wrapping method), and do the same on the bottom side of the exposed paper. Use your tape to seal the folds.
Step #4: Place Your Gift Inside the Bag
Now, you can put your gift inside of the bag, through the top. Fold the top over, and then secure it with tape. If the gift is particularly heavy, you may want to insert a piece of cardboard at the base of the bag to ensure that the bottom doesn’t open up.
Step #5: Embellish
From there, you can embellish the bag as you so desire, with bows and other decorations. Now, all that you need to do is present your gift!
