When it comes to wrapping a gift, the most traditional way is to put the gift in a box and wrap the box with wrapping paper. While it may be the most traditional gift-wrapping method, it’s something that many people still struggle with. We are going to help out by offering a simple, foolproof step-by-step guide, so that your gifts can look like they were wrapped by a professional in no time.
Step #1: Cut Your Paper
First off, you want to make sure that you’re cutting the right amount of paper. Unroll your paper onto a flat surface, and place your box in the center, upside-down. Fold one side over the other lengthwise to make sure that you have enough paper to wrap the gift entirely. Then, cut your paper.
Step #2: Fold
Now, with your gift still positioned in the center of the paper, fold the two longest sides toward the center of the gift, and create a seam with about a one-inch overlap. Run your hands over the wrapping paper to smooth it down if necessary. Grab a piece of tape and secure the fold in place.
Step #3: Secure the Ends
Move over to one end and fold it inward. First, trim the ends if necessary. Now, use your hand to smooth the wrapping paper down the side of the gift, and fold each bottom corner inward and upward to create a triangle. Make sure to hold the wrapping paper tautly while making each triangle fold to avoid a saggy or bulky appearance. Secure each triangle with tape. Do the same on the other side.
Tips for a Perfectly Wrapped Gift
Now that you know the basic method for gift-wrapping a box, let’s share some tips that will give your gift that “professionally wrapped” look.
